Natural Core Wool Roving
The Felted Ewe proudly offers our Natural Core Wool Roving! Core Wool is used for the centers of larger pieces. Your Colored Wools are then needle felted over the top, this allows your Colors to go farther! *See our Needle Felted Apple Instructions. These fibers have been commercially carded. Wool carding, using a Commercial or Drum Carder, is the process of brushing the wool with wire teeth, in this case, to align the fibers and clean the wool then divide the wool into easy to use roving strips with a slight twist. Because these fibers are aligned, you may find it easier to start Needle Felting these fibers by first conditioning them. You do this by repeatedly pulling the fibers apart so they are going in multiple directions. Really mess them up! Then roll them tightly & you will find that they felt down to a sculptable density much quicker making them easier to use for all your Needle Felting projects! We do not recommend using these fibers for clothing items as they may irritate the skin. Due to the nature of the cleaning process, some vegetable matter may be left behind.
